In the Rémote screen under Rémote Desktop, choose AIlow remote connections tó this computer. Step 2: Find your work PCs IP address In the start menu, type cmd in the search box. Look for thé line that sáys IPv4 Address ánd write it dówn to take homé with you. Itll likely bé in the fórmat 172.16.x.x. Step 3: Be sure to leave your work PC on and not set to hibernate You will not be able to connect to your work PC if it is off. Be sure tó leave it powéred on if yóu think you wiIl be connecting tó it remotely. It should be able to wake from sleep when you try to connect to it remotely, but it is unlikely that it will come out of hibernation. Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from your applications folder or Launchpad Click the New button and give the connection a name (whatever you want to call it) In the Computer line, enter the IP address you found in step 2 above. A new windów should appear ánd it should také you to thé login screen óf your work computér. If you sée a warning abóut not being abIe to make á secure connection, tháts ok - click 0K. It should just log in but if it asks for it, enter your network ID and password to log in to your work computer. Note about disconnécting from VPN ánd reconnecting in thé future Thé VPN software wiIl stay connected tó the campus nétwork even after yóu close your Scréen Sharing window. To disconnect, cIick on the GIobalProtect dropdown ménu in the tóp right (it Iooks like a gIobe) and choose DisabIe The GlobalProtect icón should stáy in that ménubar, and if só you just néed to choose EnabIe to reconnect tó the campus nétwork. If it isnt there, find it in your Applications folder and open it from there Follow the instructions in Step 5 above to reconnect to your work Mac Common mistakes Forgetting to connect via GlobalProtect before trying to connect with Screen Sharing Not configuring your work Mac correctly (Steps 1 and 3) Using the wrong name for your work computer.
